Russo Japanese Naval Battle
Here are the pictures from the 20 September 09 battle fought at the Cage in High Point NC. They had a 40k Tournament going on in the back ground but they didn't bother us and we showed them what a real game was. We played the game using the Fire When ready Grimley ruleset.
Simple enough the work and detailed enough to keep it interesting. The sides were Schout-bit nacht ChuckarooBob leading the Czarist oppressors and Vice Admiral John Bay-san and myself leading the Japanese Liberators.

End Game. Almost all the destroyers on both sides either sank or disengaged. One Russian battleship dead in the water and Admiral Bays-san trying his best to send it down for good but it just won't sink. The Russians concentrate their fire on the damaged Japanese battleship and leave it,

So a Marginal victory for the Japanese turned to a draw. The game ran smoothly except for the turn the boy decided that he didn't like the Russian dispositions and moved the fleet to where he thought they should go. Luckily I had taken a picture right before hand and was able to move the ships back close to their positions. The models are 1/600th scale models from old glory,I think. Chuckaroo had spent a busy week to get them all assembled and painted for the game. I know he has more ships and once he gets them finished we will play a big game.

Russo-Japanese Pre-Dreadnoughts 1/600

Hi Kids, Here's the first elements of my new fleets; the Russians are in white and the Japanese are in grey. All of them are from Merrimack Miniatures (avaliable from Oldglory25s.com), the biggest are about 7 inches long. Each one took about 3-4 hours to build and paint. Makes you wonder why I waited two years to build 'em! We should be taking them out for sea trials tomorrow! Assuming I will win (a rather unlikely assumption) I might go ahead and build the other couple dozen still in the planning stages.
B-17 "Liberty Belle"

Hi Kids, Here's some snaps of the B-17 that came through town a couple weekends ago. Believe you me, the only reason I detected it was the house shaking from the vibs of those four motors! They were offering rides, $430 for 30 minutes. Next time I have some disposable cash you can count me in! Charles

Minos project
Here is a Wip picture of chuckaroobob's Minos freighter. I am building it for him to use in a proposed Gallipoli beach assualt game and for use in pulp games. I have the keel and more of the bulkheads assembled but no pictures currently. I am held up in the assembly process by all the metal I am cleaning up and then painting. Until I get them done I can't put the sides on because the bits have to be glued on before assembly.

Storm Troopers and Advisors
I finished a batch of figures for my buddy Tuna, so he can update his Imperial Guard army and take advantage of the new rules in the current codex. First are some storm trooper special weapons to expand his options for special weapons.

Catawba Gamers at PBKW
I went with Chuckaroobob and John Bays to Parker, Banner, Kent and Wayne in Cornelius for a Catawba Gamers gaming day. PBKW is a nice comic/gaming store that I have heard about but this was the first time I had ever been there. The main event was a the Sword and the Flame game GMed by Chuckaroo. It was a French vs. the Arabs game with nine players, 4 European and 5 native. After a exciting game it was called as a European win. A couple of the major points were a French Foreign Legion square sending off at least 3 units of Arabs and damaging a couple others and a unit of Dutch colonial troops firing up a native unit and destroying a European lancer unit at the same time. I think one of the contributing factors to a European win was that the Native couldn't buy a dice roll. I couldn't count the failed closing to combat rolls they made. I would like to thank ChuckarooBob for a great game.
After the TSATF game we broke up for some 1000 point Flames of War games. I took my Soviets and fielded a strekovy batalon. I team up with a couple guys splinting a Cossack soviet force. We squared off against some German players in a simple one objective "King of the Hill" scenario. First of all I need to say I should probably read the rulebook before I try to play another game of Fow. I haven't played a pure infantry army ever. They play much differently from my mostly armored force I normally field. There is a big difference in 1500 point armies and 1000 point armies and how you play them. I had fun playing but found I had a different opinion on how several rules can be interpreted.
I ,of course, forgot my camera. I had placed it on the table so I would not forget it and did, so sorry no pictures this time.
I did pick up some Africa korp 15mm Germans that I plan to convert into Handscar SS troops by turning their soft hats into Fezzes. I also traded John B some chaos stuff for some Dark Elves. Now I just have to get those dark elves onto the table.
