The Cryptkickers return to the battle field. Except for a few apocalypse games the Cryptkickers haven't taken to the field for a regular 40k game since November 2008 and the GameOnGw 40k league. I didn't have the new Chaos Space marine codex yet so I made a list in the dark, and it came back to haunt me later.
I made an 1850 point list. After reading a post on Dark Future Games about fielding your Nerd Crush unit I worked up a list centered around three small Nurgle Chaos Terminator squads. I played against Sons of Taurus who has already posted his account of the game here. Therein some accusations of plasma spam were tossed about. I counter that by saying ,in hindsight, I would call the army more a min/maxed plasma spam army than anything else. The list included a Nugle Chaos lord in Terminator armor with the burning brand of Skalathrax. A nurgle chaos sorcerer with spell familiar and combi plasma as warlord. Three five model plague marine squads with two plasma guns. One five model squad of plague marines with two melta guns in a rhino with a combi melta. One five model plague marine squad with two flamers in a rhino. A possessed vindicator with a combi melta and last two nurgle obliterators.
We rolled Vanguard strike deployment and Emperor's Will. My objective is the green arrow behind the coolant towers.
Sons set up his objective in the ruin at the back edge of his deployment. The two rhinos had combat squads in them and a squad in the ruin upper story. His whirlwind is behind another ruin on the upper left with another squad on the upper level balcony. He held his captain and bike squad, ironclad dreadnought in a drop pod, assault squad and a terminator squad in reserve.
My deployment looks like a set up for a third edition rhino rush. I joined the Nurgle Lord to the Combi melta gun terminator squad and held it, the two combi plasma terminator squads and the two obliterators in reserve.
Sons took the first turn so bottom of turn one I moved out and popped smoke on all the vehicles.
Top of turn two Sons dropped in his Ironclad he forgot to drop in turn one. It looks bad for the vindicator.
Space sharks in the backfield, the Captain and bike squad, the Assault squad and terminator drop behind the Death Guard lines.
The Ironclad takes First Blood by destroying the vindicator. Not only was the vindicator not painted it was the first time on the table and suffered the first time on the table curse. Destroyed without doing anything.
The Sharks destroy a Rhino.
Bottom turn two I have all my reserves come available. I drop a combi plasma terminator squad near the Space Shark terminators.
And one dies to dangerous terrain, so much for my combi plasma sneak attack.
The Obliterators drop in the middle of the board,
And take revenge on the Ironclad for destroying the Vindicator.
The combination of plasma guns and terminator combi plasmas take down several shark terminators.
The combined fire from the second combi plasma terminator squad and the plague marine destroy several bikes and a couple assault marines. The Lord and his terminator squad mishapped but the roll put them back in reserve.
Top of turn three, the Space shark assault marines move in for some pay back.
The Shark Captain and bike squad charge into the plague marines.
The challenge is issued and THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! The Plague marine champ drops the Assault squad Sergeant. A roll on the boon table gives him Fleshbane. A rules question came up. The fleshbane makes him wound on a 2+ in addition to Poison on a 4+. Does he wound on a 2+ and reroll 1s due to poison. We decided he would but he fail to attack anything with wounds for the rest of the game.
The Assault squad misses its morale test and them jumps off of the table.
One plague marine stands and provides a much appreciated plasma fire protection for the Captain and bikers.
Bottom of turn three, I deep strike mishap with the Lord and his terminator squad again. I roll and they are returned to reserve again. The Obliterators move toward the ruin the Shark's objective is in and drop the land speeder tornado.
After a plague marine squad droped another terminator, the Nurgle Terminators charge in. The Terminator champ issues a challenge and bests the Terminator Sergeant. The roll on the boon table nets him a second wound.
The Shark Terminators stay and everyone piles in.
The Shark captain bags his second chaos champion of the game.
The Lone plague marine killed the last two Chaos Terminators run and are caught by the bikers.
Top of turn four the Nurgle terminators finish off the Space shark terminator squad.
The Shark captain clams his third chaos champion skull of the game.
Bottom of turn four, another lone plague marine holds out but the two wound Nurgle Terminator champ is coming to help.
Finally the lord and his entourage arrive to the battle. Dropping in the Shark rear near there objective.
The Nurlge Terminator champ charges in and the Shark Captain accepts his fourth challenge of the game.
The Captain and the Nurgle terminator champ whiff their attacks but the Nurgle terminator with the power axe finishes the bikers as one fists him in return.
Top of five. The captain comes back for some more action.
The plague marine champ has spent the ensuing turns trying to chase down the Shark Whirlwind. They had charged it in turn four but failed to destroy it with krak grenades, so it has backed away.
The captain makes a run for the Death Guard objective and then rolls to low for a successful charge.
Bottom of turn five. The plague marines catch the whirlwind and destroy it with krak grenades.
After taking another wound from plasma fire the Captain is charged by the Nurgle Terminator Champ. They swing but fail to wound each other.
End game the Nurgle Lord contests the Shark objective and the game ends.
A win for the Cryptkickers.
It was a great game and I hope to play Sons again.
I don't know about the Vindicator. I deployed it poorly and Sons Sacrificed his Ironclad to stop it. The 40k league is starting at 1000 points and I am undecided it I can fit the Vindicator in that. If I play a larger point game I will probably keep it but I will have a bit more paint on it next time.
The Nurgle terminators worked well. The only change is to add veterans of the long war to them and change the champ to have a power axe instead of the power maul.
The Chaos sorcerer as warlord worked well this game. My only problem is that he had several good powers and was unable to use them the majority of the game. I like the Chaos lord and chaos Sorcerer combination but will probably have to chose one or the other in a 1000 point army list.
Thanks for reading

Chaos Vehicle Combi bolter conversion to Chaos Terminator Combi Plasma
I ran out of plastic combi bolter terminator arms I have been using to make some Combi Plasma guns for my Nurgle Chaos Terminators. I had assembled five combi plasmas and wanted a sixth chaos terminator armed with one. Taking Sons of Taurus's advice I started assembling one from the surplus bits I had leftover from the chaos vehicle combi bolters.
The starting bits. I converted several of the chaos vehicle combi flamers to combi meltas and have several of the off side combi bolter halves left over. I dug out a imperial plasma pistol to form the basis of the plasma part of the combi plasma gun.
I used an of cut of sheet styrene to cover the open side of the combi bolter.
I glued the plasma pistol on and then used a scrap piece of square styrene tube glued to the sheet styrene and the plasma pistol to reinforce the join.
I have been rolling out my left over green stuff to use as cables in conversions. This is the first conversion I have used some of the green stuff cables on. It worked well and I think it looks good. The plasma side is a bit short and I started digging through the bits box for a solution.
The solution, an oop chaos bolt pistol.
I cut it in half behind the magazine and trimmed down the back so I could keep the skull detail to chaos up the plasma side. Now it just needs a good pointy bayonet bit. Back to the bits box.
After a couple trial and error attempts, I settled on a twenty year old orc sword bit. The sword bit originally came from one of the ten orcs in the warhammer fantasy regiment box I bought back in 1990. A little shaping and then pinned into the combi plasma.
After a bit of greenstuff to clean everything up and then mounted onto another Nurgle Chaos Terminator.
My six Chaos Terminators with Combi Plasmas.
My plan is to field them as two three man squads of combi plasma suicide troops.
We will see how it goes.

Chaos Terminator Combi Plasma Conversion part two
After a couple hit or miss Chaos Combi Plasm conversions I found Galaxy in Flames Chaos Combi Plasma tutorial.
My first Combi Plasma using Galaxy in Flames tutorial. It came out much better than the first two I did.
The Combi plasma mounted on the metal Chaos Terminator. It is a little bulkier than the metal bits but will be fine once it is painted.
My last two plastic combi bolters, including one removed from another model whom had his replaced with a metal combi bolter. The one from another model didn't have a bayonet so I added one and then reattached the top skull to both.
The last two combi plasma conversions mounted to metal chaos terminators. I want to make a few more combi plasmas but I exhausted my supply of the plastic chaos terminator combi bolter arms. I am going to ask around to try and round up a few more plastic combi bolter bits but I might just convert a few more up from the left over combi bolter bits from the chaos vehicle sprue.

Chaos Combi Plasma Conversions
The 40k players at Gaming Underground are starting up another 40k league and I am going to try and join in. I haven't played any games with my Death Guard Nurgle Chaos space marine in awhile so I put them back in the painting queue. I started working on some army lists. I have a bunch of model but I don't have the new hotness Helldrakes. I might pick up a couple later but right now it is going to be"Run What Ya Brung", using models on hand or from the "Closet of Doom".
First thing I want to add to the army is some Chaos Terminators. I built up a collection of fifty for Apocalypse games and they haven't seen the table since 22Jan11 World Wide Apocalypse game. The one option missing in the group is some combi plasma guns. When I assembled the majority of the Chaos Terminators, I did it in a hurry, to get them all to a table top paint standard for a big Apocalypse game in 2009 in Morrisville. I went with WYSIWYG and rolled on. Now I want to field some with Terminators armed with Combi Plasmas.
I figured a straight forward conversion would be easy enough. Chop off half the combi bolter, add plasma pistol bits and green stuff, easy, yea right.
After entirely too much effort, I managed to cut off enough of the metal combi bolter to make room for the plasma bits.
The Combi plasma conversion take one. I wasn't real happy with this one and had to use a good bit of greenstuff to repair damage. Once it is painted I think it will be okay. It isn't going to win any conversion awards but it will definitely look like a combi plasma.
Take two, this time in all plastic. I don't have any of the plastic Chaos Terminators but I needed arms to finish off several metal terminator. I won a good bit auction on evil bay and picked of plenty of arms to finish off the terminators missing them. I had several surplus combi bolter arms and pulled this one out. I carved off the front half and added the plasma pistol to it. I then sawed the metal combi bolter off of the arm and pinned the plastic combi bolter to the metal arm.
A comparison picture between the metal combi plasma and the plastic combi plasma conversion. The plastic one is slightly more bulky but close enough for me.
The second combi bolter after a another round of greenstuff and an ork blade added for a bayonet. I added the skull and think it will paint up fine. The plastic combi bolter was much easier to work with but it took too much effort for a single weapon conversion when I want a bunch more.
While taking a break I remembered seeing a combi plasma tutorial somewhere on the interwebs. After very little searching I came up with Galaxy in Flames Chaos Combi Bolter Tutorial. Following his tutorial I knocked out another Combi plasma. Much easier and much better looking.
Now I just need to find the other plastic chaos terminator combi bolter arms in the bits box.

World of Tanks Amazing Game
Hi Kids, Just played another amazing game of "World Of Tanks" the free internet game. It's basically a first person shooter except you are driving a tank instead of running around with a rifle. Every once in a great while I actually manage to live through a game, and at least once a year I end up on the winning side. This is mostly because I am lousy at this game, and the matchmaker subroutine hates my guts deep into its soul, but I still have a lot of fun playing. It's a good thing people can't exclude specific players or I'd never be on a team at all.
I was driving my KV-5, which is a "Premium" tank. That means it cost actual real world cash to buy. Premium tanks generate more computer cash so you can afford to buy and operate bigger and better tanks, which just use computer money. Although the KV-5 didn't show up in WW2 it can still be a lot of fun.
Here's the detail report showing how many rounds, hits, damage, etc. A Type 59 was kicking my butt pretty good but a KV-5 takes a lot of killing! I got him first! Yes, I know the Type 59 was not a WW2 tank, but this game takes A LOT of liberties with stuff like that. In fact, if you play long enough you can work your way up to M-48, T-54, Centurion, M103, IS-7, etc etc. This game would be perfect if they'd just reduce the insanely overpowered German tanks and add the Chieftain (sexiest tank ever!). They just added the Leo 1 a couple updates ago. BE ADVISED! If you are a rivet counter treadhead this game will not make you happy.
Here's everyone on the two teams, yeah, that's me on the top left. An exercise in destruction! Needless to say, most of my games are nowhere near this impressive.
