Wip Bolt Action WWII Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha

I have had this type 97 Chi-HA tank for awhile. I picked it up to add some more armor support for the Japanese/Chinese after earlier facing the king of the Pacific battlefield the M3 Stuart. I set down to clean the flash off of the hull but it was almost clean of any flash. One thing lead to another and I cleaned up the tracks and started gluing on the hatches.

The first track in place waiting for the epoxy to cure.

The kit didn't come with magnet so I added my own. The turret will eventually have a metal rail so I decided to use the magnets to try and keep the rail on as long as possible.

The second track attached. The cannon and machine gun barrels are small and I will probably end up pinning them on just to be safe.

Bolt Action 45mm Brixa Mortar for Italian Paratroopers

Once again thanks to Chuckaroobob, Whom is a river to his people, I have added some 45mm Brixia mortars for my Italian paratroopers.

I have slowly been building up an Italian WWII paratrooper army to use for Disposable Heroes. One thing I was missing was some of the 45mm brixia mortars. Chuckaroo called up from Historicon and told me a vendor had a fifty percent off sale and had some Boltaction Italians in the bin.

One thing about the blister is it has a picture of the mortar in it and a note saying the Mortar was odd shaped and they included to picture to show what it is supposed to look like.

This is the mortar sprue that comes in the blister. It looks a little fiddly but I a working up the courage to assemble it.

Bolt Action Italian Paratroopers progress

After the painting rush to finish the models for the First war for Armageddon Apocalypse battle, I have taken a break to work on something different.

I have been building up a WWII  Italian paratrooper army to play in Disposable Heroes using their Mare Nostrum Italian supplement. The Italians are the go to army for WWII gaming versatility. They fought on both the Axis and Allied sides and against every European power and among themselves.

I am painting up a 500 point or so platoon. It consists of a command section with a radio, two paratrooper squads, a sniper team and a Semovente self propelled gun. One thing I like about the Paratroopers is that everybody can be equipped with a Beretta  model 38 smg. The basic squad is in two sections, each with three men with model 38s and a light machine gunner. I have picked up two sets of light machine guns, either Breda model 30s for earlier in the war or German MG42s for late war use. I converted a regular rifleman to have a scoped Carcano rifle to use as a sniper and upgraded his spotter to have a model 38 smg. I had to order some of the figures directly from Bolt Action so picked up a couple of their paratroopers with flame throwers that I will add as needed.

I still need to pick up a couple of colors before I work on their camouflage smocks but I plan to get them to table quality soon.

A New Army for Disposable Heroes

I finally broke down and ordered a pile of 28mm Italian Paratroopers from BoltAction minis to build an army for Disposable Heroes. I ordered the majority of them and a semovete self propelled gun from Brigade games but had to order the paras with german weapons and the paras with heavy machine gun from Boltaction in England. I also ordered a bunch of the Handschar SS heads for my future project of a 13th SS army. I was able to set at my painting desk and clean the flash off of a few models but I still haven't been able to get any painting done.
I picked up the Semovete SP gun to add a little meat to the army when we move up to more vehicles in the games.
