The Codex Project-The Lost and The Damned

I am passing on a request from Sons of Taurus to support the The Codex Project. It is a group organizing to play test and produce fan made codices that people will play with and not call overpowered.
One thing that really made me want to build an army were the old Chapter approved articles in White Dwarf that would allow you to field variants of different 40k armies. My favorite variant army was the Iron Warriors in 3rd edition. The Chapter approved article allowed you to field either a chaos basilisk or a vindicator. (This was before the chaos vindicator was part of the chaos space marine armoury) I built a Iron Warriors army just to field a chaos Basilisk. Then there is my Elysian drop troop army I built before all the cool forge world rules and models. Once again I converted up a bunch of models that ended up by the wayside when the codex was redone. Then there are the Citadel journal armies. I have a Genestealer cult army, a Harlequin army and an Arbite army but with the rules going out of date because of edition changes they rarely see the table. Then there are the outdated codex armies like the Speed freaks from Codex Armageddon and The Lost and The Damned from Codex Eye of Terror. I built armies for both and I can proxy most of the units and models under the current rules for Orks and Imperial guard, they still aren't the same as the old lists. Last is the completely fan based Adeptus Mechanicus army list I was helping play test till the yahoogroup died off. I have since continued to build on the Adeptus Mechanicus as an Imperial Guard army but it lacks allot of flavor it could have.
If you read this check out the Codex Project and if you can help out, contribute. I think I will try and help out Sons with his Lost and the Damned and maybe a couple others.

World Wide Apocalypse Game Endgame

This is the ending of the World Wide Apocalypse game the Apoc-Eclipse gaming group organized at All Fun and Games in Apex North Carolina on 22Jan11. The last turns of the game turn to a maelstrom of destruction.

After fighting four rounds of combat with one Imperial dreadnought my Chaos lord finally wins and follows the Hive tyrant up toward the squat tech priest and his retinue.
With the chaos war hound and Silver tower destroyed the Chaos Thunderhawk lands near the objective.

The Gue'vesa Hades Breaching drill arrives and the squad of Engineers run down to assault several tanks parked in the Imperial rear.

One of the Silver Skulls Thunderhawks will fly no more, finally downed by Tau gunfire.

The Thunderbolt squadron targets the Silver Skull Baneblade parked on the Imperial objective.

My Doom bringer formation arrives with one squad of terminators destroyed and one squad delayed.

The Thousand Son Terminators move up to assault the Imperator titan.

Robert's Surviving Reaver Titan.

My Chaos Lord attacks the Squat Techpriest and only manages to kill one of it servitors.

Genestealer reinforcement arrive from the board edge and swarm the Silver Skulls.

My Plaguemarine wiped out last turn are avenged by the Ork and Nurgle dreadnoughts.

The aftermath. All the Silver Skull terminators down and the dreadnought damaged.

Gaunts and proxy Tervigon defend the Chaos objective.

The surviving Silver Skulls ThunderHawk comes back to strafe a Plaguetower.

The Leviathan moves up on top the Imperial objective while Plaguemarines and Tyranids fight through the wall of tanks.

Legion of the Damned drop into the Xenos backfield but scatter from the objective.

Squat demo squad attacks the Gue'vesa Macharius.

Grey Knights move up before they butcher my Terminator squad.

Scratch one Plaguetower. The Imperial finally down the first Plaguetower which explodes killing more Imperial models than Xenos. This lead to the center Plaguetower surviving the game with one structure point left. They didn't shoot at it their last turn, worried about it exploding and killing even more troops.

The genestealers having finished off the Silver Skull Dreadnought in the imperial turn charge toward the contested objective.

Fighting continues at the feet of the Imperator titan.

Success for the Xenos, the Imperator is destroyed.

The Xenos force clear the far objective. The Dreadnoughts consolidate on the objective while the genestealer continue after the surviving Silver Skulls.

The Lictors make it to the top of the Defense Laser tower but still only manage to stun it and stop it from shooting the last turn.

Plaguemarines manage to hold the objective. The Imperial tried their best to shoot them off of the objective but only killed the Tyranids.
The Imperial did manage to contest the Dreadnought objective by running a squad up but they didn't take it.
The final tally of points was 96850 points on the table. The Xenos side had 64 structure points and the Imperials had 53 structure points.
The game went to the Xenos with a total of 21 objectives to the Imperial total of 16.
I had a lot of fun with few disagreements and look forward to the next Apoc-Eclipse organized game.
The one thing I took away from the game was the inspiration of Jeff's Imperator and makes me want to get my Great Gargant onto the table.

World Wide Apocalypse Game Mid Game

The Battle Continues

The Ork Bikers race around the Imperial Flank.
Space Wolves drop in and run a Silver Skull squad off of the table.

Robert's first Reaver falls to the Chaos guns.

The Warlord Titan sizes up the Imperator.

Imperator gets a close up.

Magnus the Red and his retinue of Greater Daemons arrive through a warp rift.

Tyranids close into the Imperials.

A squad of Plaguemarines advance with Tyranid back up.

The guants scuttle over to reinforce the Thousand Sons terminators hold the Imperial objective at the feet of the Imperator titan.

A Thunderbolt strafes the Silver Skulls Thunderhawk.

A second Thunderbolt strafes the second Silver Skulls Thunderhawk.

My Surviving Terminator Chaos lord continues to fight an Imperial Dreadnought.

My Nurgle dreadnought leaves the Plaguetower and assaults a Silver Skull Rhino, while a plaguemarine squad assaults the Silver Skull Razorback.

More Spacewolves drop in the Silver Skull backfield.

The Dreadnought destroys the rhino but fails to injure any passengers, while the Plaguemarines destroy the Razorback.

The Chaos Lord trades Blows with the Imperial Dreadnought.

Plaguemarines and tyranid Warriors assault one of Steve's Imperial Dreadnoughts.

More Terminators drop in the middle of the field down on the Titan end of the table.

Renegade Thunder Wolf Cavalry advance behind a Space Wolf Land Raider.

Magnus assaults the Imperator, stumbles and falls on his own daemon weapon. Matt P rolled a one for the number of attacks with Magnus's Daemon Weapon.

A trio of Lictors arrive on the table.

They climb to the base of the Imperial Defense laser and manage to stun it but not destroy it.

The Ork Bikers after finishing off a group of Silver Skulls.

Silver Skull Thunderhawk Lands and starts to deploy troops.

Both Thunderhawks landed each deploying a sternguard squad, a terminator squad and a dreadnought. A terminator Assault squad also drop in between them .

Curt moves up his White Sword Special squad and assaults my Plaguemarines on the objective in the building.

Randall fires the Thunderhawk cannon at the plaguetower but the shot scatters back onto his own troops.

The scatter kills all but one model in Randall's squad.

White Sword squad charges into My Plaguemarines.

Silver Skull Terminators assault my Plaguemarines while the Silver Skull Dreadnought assaults the Immobile PlagueTower.

Sternguard and Terminators assault my other Plaguemarines on the far right objective.

The Plaguemarine weather the storm and continue the fight.

The Plaguemarine manage to survive again.

I took a pounding on the second turn as Curt and Randal spring their trap and swarm the two objectives I had Plaguemarine hunkered down on. The big surprise is that both squads survived. The big plus is their defensive grenade cost their attacker the extra attack for charging and their pesky five toughness. It looked bad but reinforcements were on the way.
