Zombies, Scarecrows and a Wraith Oh My.
October is here and in the spirit of Halloween I have pulled out some Vampire counts models to work on. These have been on the painting table for far too long and I think I will finish them off this month.
More Zombies for the horde. I built these when the sixth edition Vampire count army book came out years ago. They added the option of a standard and musician to zombie units so I built three sets and another twenty four zombies. When I get these done I will be able to field three thirty zombie strong units.
The scarecrows are actually henchmen from a superhero range. I picked them up to use as Wraiths. Once again when the sixth edition Vampire count army book was released they changed wraiths from a character to a unit lead by a Banshee. I wanted more wraiths and these were much more economical.
Last is a Wraith conversion I built years ago. The bottom is from a Wraith I cut in half to make a mounted Wraith. The torso is the hanging torso from the old Zombie sprue and a couple zombie arms. Last I added a greenstuff robe to blend the torso into the lower body.
I want to finish them by the end of the month and maybe take my Vampire Counts over to Gaming Underground for their Wednesday night open gaming.

Get The Girl warband progress
I have been working on my war band for the Get The Girl, Kill the Baddies war game by Andy Hoare. I didn't really maximize the potential of the party and just picked out some figures I already had in my collection.
From the left is a wizards of the coast female barbarian, then a old talisman barbarian, center back is a mordheim kislev ranger, the priestess and axe woman are both celtos figures. My secret strategy is to take advantage of the chain mail bikini and impressive loin cloth rules from the game.
I am still working on a good back story for the group but I am leaning toward The priestess leading the group on a journey only she knows the goal of. The axe woman is her defender and confidant, with the barbarians hired for muscle and the ranger for field craft skills. It is a start anyway.
I will post up some better pictures when I get them past a base coat.

Bolt Action Italian Paratroopers progress
After the painting rush to finish the models for the First war for Armageddon Apocalypse battle, I have taken a break to work on something different.
I have been building up a WWII Italian paratrooper army to play in Disposable Heroes using their Mare Nostrum Italian supplement. The Italians are the go to army for WWII gaming versatility. They fought on both the Axis and Allied sides and against every European power and among themselves.
I am painting up a 500 point or so platoon. It consists of a command section with a radio, two paratrooper squads, a sniper team and a Semovente self propelled gun. One thing I like about the Paratroopers is that everybody can be equipped with a Beretta model 38 smg. The basic squad is in two sections, each with three men with model 38s and a light machine gunner. I have picked up two sets of light machine guns, either Breda model 30s for earlier in the war or German MG42s for late war use. I converted a regular rifleman to have a scoped Carcano rifle to use as a sniper and upgraded his spotter to have a model 38 smg. I had to order some of the figures directly from Bolt Action so picked up a couple of their paratroopers with flame throwers that I will add as needed.
I still need to pick up a couple of colors before I work on their camouflage smocks but I plan to get them to table quality soon.

My Little World Fifth Anniversary
Well 26 September has come and gone again for the fifth time. According to the blog stats, it has had 3200 page views this month. This is the most page views the blog has received ,in a single month, since I started keeping track back in 2008. So far I have had a little over 44000 page views and if I keep the posts going I think I can break 50k by the beginning of next year.
