On 8Sept12 The Apoc-Eclipse Gaming group played a massive apocalypse game at the Tech Shop in Raleigh. The battle was based on a historical re-fight of the first war for Armageddon. The World Eaters win the toss and take the first turn.
The World Eaters charge, following the Greater Brass Scorpion,
The World Eaters terminators drop danger close and land behind the Imperial Reavers.
Angron, Angrath and the mob of Bloodthirsters swoop over the battle field.
Angrath charges into the imperial battle line.
Angron leads his Bloodthirster entourage into the fray.
Lead by Daemon Princes, the World Eaters advance
Imperial Guard man their Icarus pattern lascannon
A World Eaters dreadnought and chaos spawn charge into the khorne rune shaped lava field.
The Four lords of Armageddon charge across the battlefield on their Juggernaut mounts.
The Khorne Cauldron of Blood moves toward the Charon, river of blood.
The Khorne Tower of skulls and Cannon of Khorne maneuver around the feet of the Warlord titan behind a wall of Bloodletters.
Logan Grimnar and his Wolf Guard
Logan Grimnar beside the crater that was his land raider.
The first game curse strikes, A Baneblade, painted for this game destroyed before it can take any action.
The Imperials return fire, on the Vindicator Linebreaker squadron struggling to ford the river of blood.
And destroy one of the vindicators in the line breaker squadron.
The Space marine bikers move up to fire on the World Eaters Terminators in the Imperial back field.
Imperial fire thins the ranks of the World Eaters.
Despite the Gentleman's agreement that titans would target titans instead of infantry, one Khorne Lord of Armageddon falls to Vulcan mega bolter fire, while a second one takes the fire from a second Vulcan mega bolter and rides away, sustaining only one wound.
More Space wolves drop onto the Great Khorne Icon and try to pull it down.
Imperial fire takes a toil on the traitor guardsmen.
Logan Grimnar attacks the Great Khorne Icon.
Traitor guardsmen have a bad feeling,
And then they were gone.
The space marine bikers revv up and CHARGE The World Eaters terminators but think better after a snake eyes charge roll.
Check back tomorrow for the next Installment, First war for Armageddon Mid Battle.

On 8Sept12 at the Tech Shop in Raleigh The Apoc-Eclipse gaming group organized a re-fight of the First War for Armageddon. The basis of the battle was Logan Grimnar of the space wolf was defending Armageddon from the onslaught of Angron and his World Eaters chaos space marines. After the nature of the enemy was discovered Logan Grimnar summoned the Grey Knights to combat the daemonic incursion, Thus the battle begins.
The great Icon of Khorne raised by Angron for unholy purpose known only to him.
The Charon, a river of blood and a smaller chaos Icon used to bind the daemon horde to this reality.
Matt's World Eaters Horde takes shape. backed by a Skull tower, a greater Brass scorpion and a Khorne Cauldron of Blood.
A corrupt Khorne Reaver Titan, Angron, Angrath, and Angron Bloodthirter entourage.
The Imperials Start to form up on the battle field.
Another Imperial battle group lead by a Shadow sword
The Hordes of Chaos swarm onto the battle field, The Warlord titans driving the lesser forces before them.
The Dark Mechanicus Shadow sword Domination force occupies a sky shield landing platform, as the World Eaters rhino mounted strike force moves out.
The Khorne Reaver and Chaos Warlord Titan take aim at the Imperial line.
The Imperial Titans cower behind what little cover they can find.
Imperial tanks are slowed by the khorne rune shaped lava field.
As the warp storm intensify the Chaos daemon horde grows.
More Khorne Chaos Daemons wait to enter the battle.
More World Eaters waiting for deployment.

Two Hell Talons and a Hell Blade circle the battlefield.
The Imperial line is almost fully formed.
Two more Chaos Warlord titans stride into battle.
more imperial reserves
Another Imperial Armor group lead by a Baneblade.
The Great khorne Icon pulses with unholy energy.
The World Eaters armor advances into battle.

Chaos Daemon Flying Circus inna' Box
Getting ready For the First War for Armageddon apocalypse game coming up tomorrow. I have been giving my collection of winged Daemon princes, my Bloodthirster and a loner Bloodthirster from Big Roy some touch ups to get them to good enough for the game.
I have been reading the blogs and forums about the Daemon Prince Flying circus in 6th edition and I might have to give it a try some day.

After 4 Years in the Wilderness; 40K!!!
Hi Kids, Yes, it's true, after ignoring the heaps of GW loot secreted in the Basement of Heaped Miniatures for God only knows how long, the Chuckster has gone completely 'round the bend and painted up a Leman Russ Demolisher! Why? Probably because one of the lads dropped off a fistful of Imperial Army stuff for ebay and the tank was the commission for all my hard work posting the stuff. (You the man, Willster!) I painted it up to match all my other tanks in the world famous "Triple Grey & Black" camo scheme of the 13th Demibrigade of the Foreign Legion; the local force. Holy Cow, I just realized this thing has only been in my possesion for about 2 weeks, that's gotta be a record! I've even been considering building up some of the other warehoused stuff. Those objects in the background are some terrain pieces I bought up at Cold Wars in 2011; Moi. AKA Easter Island Head Statues. Found them lurking in the basement and thought "Gotta get them ready for the upcoming KneeCap Island pulp campaign!" Don't worry, I've got some more, its just a matter of finding them. Gimme about a year.
"What ho!?!?!?" you say, are those 25mm RSM (Rusty Scabbard Miniatures) Seven Years War Austrians? You bet! This five foot long deployment is about half the painted army (of course there's more still in the basement). The dude out in front is a Foundry Russian Nappie Officer. And I'm here to tell ya, a 48man infantry regiment takes up A LOT of table! These troops are standing in for Nappies in some recent games of Black Powder. The record so far; 1:1. The only thing these Austrians seem incapable of doing is winning a combat against Frenchmen facing the other way. I'm not sure why rear charges seem to be so difficult to win; perhaps it's time for some French jokes.....

Oop Tyranid Warriors, rebuilds and conversions
I watch Ebay more than I should but sometimes it pays off. For less than twenty bucks I picked up a tyranid bits box that had a pile of bits, a half dozen or so bases of rippers and nine old school Tyranid warriors. Most of them needed some repair and one was missing a head but all are going to be back on the table. five were armed with Devourers and four had bone swords.
Some were missing bases or based on 25mm squares so I broke of the 25mm bases and rebased them all on 40mm square bases to match the ones I already have. After searching my bits boxes was unable to round up an old style head to replace the missing one, so I will probably end up using a newer style Tyranid warrior head as a replacement. One had a broken bone sword and I trimmed it off. I am planning to make an armature and sculpt a lash whip. This will give me fifteen of the old style warriors.
Last I was able to remove the bone sword arms from one Tyranid warrior and I decided to give it a venom cannon to add a little more firepower to the brood. The venom cannon is from the newer style warrior box but once I add some shoulder carapace armor bits I think it will work well enough for me.
