Cryptkickers Attack!

I have decided to call my League Chaos Marines the Cryptkickers. Yes, I was inspired by monster mash over Halloween but i dig it. I ws unable to play a game verses JR so Scott T stood in for him with his eldar. I fieled Typhus, three plaguemarine squads in rhinos, 2 summoned daemon squads, and 3 vindicators. It was a fun game and I had Typhus setting on his objective on the top of turn 5. Unfortunately he gunned Typhus down on the bottom of turn 5 and the game ended as a draw. So I ended up withdrawing from the territory.
My orders for the current turn are to ttack Palace Grounds West again. I will make them pay eventually. Todd attacked me in the Sniper Alley North and we played the battle today. I fielded the same army against his space marines. I ended up taking his objective and wining the game. I think the breaking point was when I deep struck Typhus next to one of Todd's tactical squads. I fired off winds of chaos and hit every model in the squad and only killed 4. In his turn they fired a multimelta and meltagun at typhus and missed. In my turn Typhus turned, used winds of chaos on a chaplain led terminator squad killing 2. Then typhus charged them killing another terminator and using his force weapon to kill the chaplain. In return the last terminator powerfisted and killed typhus. Knocking out the terminator squad cleared a route for the plague marine squad that ended up taking the objective. Funny how things worked out. It was an ugly game with alot of casualties on both sides.

Computer Crash/40k league

My old computer crashed last week and put a dent in my Internet addiction. It lasted over 8 years with only few hiccups, so I can't really complain. We have moved up to a new box and it seems to be working well.

I have joined up in the local 40k league. We are using the Vogen map and have 10 players. I am fielding my Nurgle/Plague marine chaos marines. we meet up at Scott Tolbert's place for the start and I didn't end up having a battle. I still played a game against Aaron a tyranid player and actually on my side in the league. I fielded a 3 vindicator plaguemarine army lead by Typhus, with 3 summoned daemon squads and a possessed squad. Aaron had a hive tyrant, a zoanthrope, two carnifexes, two broods of warriors, a couple broods of genestealers and a gaunt brood. We played using the city fight rules. The game looked real bleak for a while but there is nothing like a couple 10 man squads of plaguemarines lead by a champ with a power fist hunkered down in cover waiting for the bugs to charge. I ended up winning by kill points but I think we both had a good time.
I have a battle pending against JR's Crimson Fists and hopefully I will get it in by the weekend. We are fighting over the west palace grounds. If I can win the game It will put a buffer between the good guys and the palace.

Current Brass Scorpion Pics

I haven't had much hobby time lately but I have put a few more details on my friend Tuna's Brass Scorpion. I have worked on the Plague towers adding more green stuff but I have a lot to go. I still haven't finalized a plague mortar Idea yet. I am thinking about building a plague mortar turrent.
I have started assembling some Warmachine figures. I have enough assembled to have a legal force. I have a Sentinel warjack, A defender warjack, a unit of gunmages with a gun mage captain and Lt Caine as the warcaster. While sorting through the models I came up short parts for a trencher chain gun crewman. I contacted Privateer press and they sent out one of the missing pieces but forgot the mian gunner piece. I traded a couple emails with them and after a call to customer service the gunner bit should be here in a week or so.

Changer of Ways and Flamers

Here is a blast from my past. These are some Daemon figures I painted for my friend Tuna. I just repainted the bases to add the Lava effect. I am in the process of finishing up another bunch of Tuna's models. I will post up more pictures as I finish them.

40k Sunday At the Castle

Went to the castle Sunday to get in a game of 40k, deliver the Plague Towers for my friend Chris H. to use in an Apocalypse Battle and pick up one of the new Dark Elf Battalion boxes I traded a bunch of chaos marines for. I showed up early and Windancer was a half hour late opening the store.
The new Dark Elf models are snazzy, especially the new cold ones. I want to get about 14 or so of them to mount up some metal cold one knights I have that are missing their mounts. I bought the metal knights thinking I could order up the plastic cold ones but when I went to put in the order it was a week after GW had stopped selling individual bits. I have been sorting through my Dark Elves and planning for the day I get the new Armybook.
The Apocalypse game was the final battle in a campaign Chris H and Alex have been playing over the last couple months. It was Chris' Plague Marines verses Alex's Death Korp Kreig forces. The PlagueTowers were a surprise and ended up ruling the day. Another major factor was because of Chris winning the previous battle in the campaign he was able to choose whether to play using night fight rules or not. Chris chose night fight and this cut down on Alex's firepower immensely. They Played 5 full turns and called the game, with Chris winning. The batle went exceptionally well considering that no one in the store had a copy of the Apocalypse rulebook and had to play from memory.
I played a 700pt game using my Plague Marine against a guy (whose name I forget, oops) orks. He was just starting the his ork army and only had 700 points assembled. We played a full six turns and the game ended in a draw, with neither of us controlling any odjectives. It was a real fun game but i am still trying to get the 5th ed rules right. I kept adding in 4th ed rules that have either changed or been done away with.

As if I didn't have enough irons in the fire, I put together a Warmachine Cygnar Sentinel and flocked it and some gun mages bases. When I went to put the Warjack together I had lost its head. So I ended up making a new one from a chaos warrior head and some green stuff. I have been thinking about building some of my Warmachine figs since talking to some active Warmachine players at the 80k of 40k Apocalypse battle. they have a group meeting regularly to play and I figured since I already have the figures, I might as well assemble them. I bought them when Warmachine hit locally and it seemed like everybody but me was playing. I played several games with other peoples figures and liked it, so I bought in. When I had enough figures to field a nice sized force the bottom fell out of local interest. Into a box they went. I bought some more since them mostly planning to use them in VSF games but it looks like they may see the battlefield yet.

Brass Scorpion Wip & Gaming update

Here are some pics of my buddies Tuna's Brass Scorpion I have been painting for him. This is the model he used in the 80k of 40k Apocalypse battle . I have a bunch of thousand sons and some flamers waiting to be finished. I have also been working on a bunch of AWI Highlanders for another friend of mine. On the good side I have finished up fifteen Soviet Heavy Machine gun bases for my Flames of war army. They have been setting on the painting table half finished for six months or more. My goal of painting a thousand figures this year is a long way off. The Soviets are the first models I have completely finished painting since February.
Gaming wise I have played in a The Sword and the Flame game at the BOHM. It was a French versus the Arabs with Prospector Bob thrown in on the french side as a Victoria Cross Winner and Major Von Kracken on the Arab side with side unit of Stormtroopers. It was basically a punitive raid with the French goal to occupy/burn the village and the Arabs to stop them. It was a fun game but the French ended up withdrawing in good order but unable to seize the main village.
I also played a Flames of war game at the BOHM. It was a Soviet/American team(CharlesK,Patrick and Me) verses the Germans(JohnB andJerryW). I fielded my Strekovy Batalon for the first time since I finished painting them and had a good time. All of us were a little rusty on the rules, it had been awhile since the last FOW game. The Germans ended up winning but it was a close run thing. I tried using flame tanks for the first time and the jury is still out. I am thinking about making a couple of sniper bases to see how they work out. This is what inspired me to finish the Soviet HMGs. I have been debating what to add to the Soviet army next. I have more infantry, a storm group, a Smg platoon and a Gods of War Artillery Battalion. I am leaning towards to Smgs and Stormgroup especially if we keep playing mid war.
I am planning a trip to the Castle tomorrow to pick up the new Dark Elf Battalion box I tade for with a friend of mine. I am taking the plague towers for him to use in an Apocalypse battle and may take a 40k army to try and get a game in using the 5th ed rules.

80k of 40k End Game

The Imperials finally arrive at my end of the table. Four assault marine squads land near the end Plague tower and assault it with meltabombs. It ended up Immobilized, all but one demolisher cannon destroyed and only 2 structure points left. A counter attack by friendly models tied up the assault marines an allowed the plague tower to survive the game. More Black Templars and Death Corp Kreig troops arrive after being redirected by Disruption Beacons.

The Thunderhawk arrives. Then starts to bombard Typhus and his plague marine squad. I really dig the Balsa wood Thunderhawk. Some of the people didn't dig it but I stick to " If they haven't built something better, who cares what they think. "
The Bombardment worked. It killed off the plague marines and put two wounds on Typhus. He would count as an objective if he was killed so he climbed into a plaguetower to ride out the final turn of the game.

The lone group of flamers defending the last objective against the on coming imperial forces.
It was a great game even though it was the first loss for the Enemies of the Imperium in Tuna's series of Apocalypse games. We had 28 players with 8 super heavies per side. There was some adjustment getting up to speed on the 5th edition rules but few real disagreements. If you haven't got it I highly recommend the Apocalypse Reload book. I have gone back to the drawing board for a good 3k Apocalypse force. I have been working on my 30 chaos terminators and thinking about fielding the annihilation formation. I can't wait for the next battle Tuna puts on.
